The two-story house is located on the Acton Common and in the Acton Center Local Historic District, and also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Federal Period building from 1829 served as a chapel for the Evangelical Society. The Acton Woman’s Club has owned it since 1922. The project funding supports significant preservation, rehabilitation and related improvement work on the building and property needed to maintain the building in functional condition for its intended use, including re-designing the walkways and building entrances with ADA improvements; exterior lighting; access improvements to the publicly Mabel Jenks Rose Garden; wiring updates; insulation; bulkhead replacement; and repairing/ repainting/repapering interior walls to the appropriate historical period.
